Lu Nagata was born in 1979 in Nagasaki, Japan. She spent several years in New York and Europe, also traveled as a back packer by herself all of the world extensively studying dance, fitness, and art to develop and refine her own unique dance style. During this time she also completed studies in body art, photography and tattooing.

She decided to enter the pole dancing world when she first saw the circus in Europe and became fascinated with the acrobatic nature of their dance incorporating the pole, silk and rings.

In 2006, she returned to Japan. Immediately upon her return, she received a wave of media appearance requests, resulting in multiple TV and magazine appearances, modeling shoots and many solo and group shows. That same year she established her first pole dance school. This school proved unable to cope with the burgeoning interest in Tokyo so, in June 2007, Lu opened Japan’s largest pole dance studio Art Flow Tokyo. Many local celebrities attended the opening along with both the Japanese and American media. Art Flow Tokyo now instructs more than 600 students and has become the most prestigious and reputable pole dance school in Asia.

In addition to Art Flow Tokyo, Lu performs shows and conducts workshops all over the world. She has recently returned from a Europian workshop tour, and has committed to further Scandinavian dates in summer 2009.

A born artist, she is attempting to shake off the salacious stereotype commonly associated with pole dancing, seeking instead to promote pole dance as an art form. Her powerful and innovative stage performances have commanded audiences' attention and garnered critical accolades throughout Europe and America.

Lu's exceptional sense of artistry and strong individual style have ensured her emergence as the charismatic representative and pioneer of the Japanese pole dance community.
